Course context: Processing chronic pain involves understanding and accepting the sensations of pain rather than simply trying to eliminate them. This approach can significantly enhance people's lives by empowering them to explore the emotional and psychological aspects of their suffering. Unlike pain management, which often focuses on reducing pain through medication or other controlling interventions, processing pain encourages individuals to engage with their experiences, fostering resilience and emotional growth. By approaching pain directly, individuals can find new perspectives and discover inner resources that enable them to feel more at peace with being out of control.
Length of course: This coaching is a course of four online sessions with Rob, each an hour long. They can be spaced weekly or fortnightly.
What to expect: In the initial session we will have a conversation about your situation, and I'll start to develop an idea of the kind of activities that match your personality. In the next couple of sessions we'll look deeper at what pain is and how you can work with it and process it deeply - this will involve some information sharing, as well as a series of activities designed to connect you with your resourcefulness, patience and ability to move the pain through. In the final session I'll help you to put together a plan to send you on your way towards a more peaceful life.
Total cost: £250

Coaching encompasses the emotional, neurological, physiological and spiritual dimensions of our being. Whilst there have been proven to be many benefits to this approach, it is important to understand and consider that with any exploration of these dimensions and with any attempt at changing your situation, you may experience discomfort, disorientation, disillusionment and overwhelm, amongst other possibilities (please research the risks so that you are fully informed). Coaching may be triggering for you.
Within the coaching you will be invited to have difficult conversations, and to engage in exercises that may be challenging. You do not have to engage; it’s your choice.
It is important that you accept responsibility for your choices and actions, and only explore these dimensions within your ability and to the comfort/discomfort you feel is appropriate.
If you are unable to accept this responsibility, it is important that you do not pursue coaching with me.
If you have an organic or serious mental illness, and/or a primary diagnosis of learning disability, a coaching agreement is not appropriate.
If you have had traumatic events in your past that you haven’t yet processed, coaching may not be for you at present – do consider getting the opinion of a mental health professional before deciding.
